"1984 NPHA Big Game Female of the Year and Inducted into the NPHA Hall of Fame as a Big Game Dog in 1987."

CH Bear Pen Fancy was an outstanding bear and coon dog. She was from the first litter by GRCH Weems Plott Butch and Weems Plott Jill. She came to Bear Pen Kennels from 1973 Plott Days in Flora, Illinois. Homon Fielder picked her from a litter of pups at Everett Weems' home in Salem, IL.

CH Bear Pen Fancy was hunted on coon by Steve Fielder in Belmont County, Ohio in the fall of 1975. Hunting with Don Baker, Fancy was in on the killing of 80 coon that fall.

CH Bear Pen Fancy placed third in the All Plott Hunt at Plott Days in Lumberton, NC. Soon after, she was retired from coon hunting and spent the rest of her years, until age 10 when she died, hunting black bears.

CH Bear Pen Fancy had unreal speed, desire, grit, and determination on bear. She often outran her pack mates. Fellow hunters would pull their hounds off the track as they ran behind her, knowing they would never catch her. She would be the last dog on the bear many, many times. Before the days of tracking collars, she was lost in the mountains for three weeks at a time on two different ocassions because she refused to quit.

Fancy was seriously injured many times by bears proving her grit and willingness to catch a bear on the ground. Very few hounds will ever match the ability of CH Bear Pen Fancy as a bear dog. She died at the home of Ron West of Tellico Plains, Tennessee where she was being used as a start dog on bear at 10 years of age.

CH Bear Pen Fancy produced several top dogs including Bear Pen Plott Blackie, CH Bear Pen Plott Dixie, CH Bear Pen Fancy II, Bear Pen Bronco Billy, and others.
